Coal-Based Direct Reduced Iron product
Direct Reduced Iron (DRI), also known as sponge iron, is primarily used as a clean iron source in steelmaking through Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) and Induction Furnaces (IF), often as a substitute for or supplement to scrap. With its high metallic iron content and low impurities, DRI ensures better control over steel chemistry and quality, making it especially valuable in alloy and special steel production. It is also used in foundries and, when briquetted as Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI), becomes easier to store, transport, and export.
