SaflexTM Acoustic

The products in scope are QS31, QS41, QP41, QP51, QF51, QQ51 and QS71, which serve as representatives in this EPD of multiple products, based on the average results of the product group. Saflex interlayers are plasticized polyvinyl butyral (PVB) sheeting produced by Eastman and its affiliates. These interlayers are bonded through a heat and pressure process to two or more pieces of glazing to produce laminates with impact and glass containment properties. Saflex conventional Q-series is our baseline acoustic product group. This clear multi-layer PVB film produces glass laminates with enhanced acoustical properties compared to monolithic glass and laminates made with standard PVB interlayer. Saflex Acoustic suppresses the coincident effect of glass. It is ideal for use in exterior architectural and automotive laminated glazing to reduce rail, traffic, speech and other noise, and to improve building and vehicle sound comfort (up to 10dB noise reduction in the critical frequency range). It’s also ideal for interior applications requiring sound reduction such as cubical dividers, office partitions and enclosed mall storefronts. Saflex Acoustic comes in a variety of roll lengths and widths. Most common standard roll lengths are 250 and 500 meters. The most common thicknesses are 0.63, 0.76, and 1.52 mm.
